Complimenting someone

Complimenting someone seems to be a dying characteristic; this trait should be brought back to our modern world. I am extremely opinionated, however, there is a time and a place for everything.

Complementing someone on their work is essential in any workplace; it is as important as criticism is; I think it is equally important to compliment someone on doing a good job or succeeding in a project. This is an important lesson you learn in a managerial position when you oversee people. You can quickly lose a good employee if you don’t balance criticism and compliments equally.

The world has become a very cynical place where it is so easy to point out people’s flaws or mistakes, and this is something I see way too often on social media. Why have people become so nasty and mean? We are all here to learn and become better people.

Why attack a person for looking the way they do? Instead, compliment them. It takes a lot of courage to put themselves out there. It doesn’t mean because someone is trying something new that they should be judged or crucified for trying. When last did you put yourself out there? When last did you try something so far out of your comfort zone that any unwanted criticism could potentially scar you for life?

Live and let live is a proverb, meaning let people live their lives the way they want to, as you live your life your way. It doesn’t necessarily mean if you don’t live that way that it is wrong. Instead of critiquing, try to understand why they choose to live this way. You might learn something and become a better person from it.

Complimenting someone; you will learn so much more in life through being a better person. Your attitude and perspective of the world will also become better over time. There is so much wrong with the world. It is hard enough trying to survive in this world without having random assholes making unnecessary comments or trying to break a person down.

Is it really necessary to try and break someone down just so that you can feel better for a few minutes? I promise you after those little highs pass from hurting someone, you will still feel just as empty afterward. Instead, try complimenting someone, you will feel much better knowing you maybe made this person’s day, week, or month with your compliment. A little can go a long way.

Be better, do better.
