Sheeple, often defined as people that are docile, foolish, and easily led. People likened to sheep, and this is, unfortunately, an actual human characteristic.

I grew up in a small town with people who had a small-town mentality. My parents raised me to be my own person and think outside the box. I was very rebellious growing up, which helped me become my own person earlier on in life. Knowing there was more to life than what most believed was adequate.

I started noticing sheeple from my teenage years, friends that would participate in something just so that they felt like they fitted into some cliché, no understanding of why they were participating or what it was even about. Hey, as long as they were part of the “in-crowd.”

It actually gets worse as you get older; you will see this at work; you will see this at social gatherings, and you see it everywhere on social media and the news. Sheeple are participating without having any clear understanding of what they are fighting for, just going with the flow.

WTF is wrong with the world?

You need morals, and you need to have standards. I love that so many people are passionate about things in their lives, so much so that they will take a stand and say enough. We need change; we need to learn from mistakes made in the past.

However, sheeple take away from your cause; they have no idea why they are there, they don’t understand what you stand for or what you are trying to achieve. They just want to be part of the action.

You see this often on social media with trending hashtags. Someone on Twitter will create a hashtag regarding something they feel is necessary or worthy of addressing. Sheeple will eventually jump on board, using all the trending hashtags in their tweets just to participate in the discussion/ movement. I can guarantee that most of them don’t even know why the hashtag is trending or why the alleged person/ company/ movement is trending.

It is time that people start waking up to what is going on around them instead of just jumping on the trending or cancel culture bus. You can not believe everything you hear, and you can not believe everything you see.

You need to be your own person and know what you stand for; stop jumping on the bandwagon. There are so many sheeple already in the world, do you actually want to be another one?
