What is the scarcity mindset, and how do you change it.

The scarcity mindset or mentality is when people believe that their lives are predetermined, and there is nothing they can do to change it. The scarcity mindset is a negative mindset that can affect how you live your life and the decisions you make in life. You believe that there will never be enough, whether it be food, money, or anything else in life.

Scarcity mentality refers to people seeing life as a finite pie, so that if one person takes a big piece, that leaves less for everyone else.

There are several signs to determine if you have a scarcity mindset:

  • Believing that situations are permanent and that you can’t change them, we have all have challenging times in our lives, but we always get through it. Nothing is permanent unless you want it to be.
  • Negative thoughts are your worst enemy; if you constantly tell yourself that you aren’t good enough or will never achieve anything, you will slowly start believing it.
  • Being envious of other people and their belongings envy will create more negative thoughts within yourself. Who cares how they got what they have? It has no impact on your life except inserting more negativity into it.

With a scarcity mindset, it is only a mindset; with time and effort, you can change the way you think and see the world. It is not necessarily easy, but it can be achieved.

Below are a few ways you can start changing the way you perceive things:

  • Appreciate the things you do have, like your family, your education, and your work experience. These are things you have and can be proud of, no matter how minor they may seem.
  • Spend more time with people who have an abundance mindset, people you admire and look up to; with time, their positivity will become your positivity. Positivity does have a way of rubbing off on others, and positive people always encourage others to do better.
  • Recognize all the possibilities in your life, don’t just focus on one thing. Sometimes if you focus on just one thing, you miss five other opportunities that you were too focused to see. Be open-minded and non-judgemental; consider all options.

Anything is possible in life if you put your mind to it, but you will only achieve what you believe you are worthy of, so stop limiting yourself.
