Fisting more than a hand full

Fisting still sounds extreme, even though it has become more mainstream over the years. As always, there will be a lot of misinformation out there about fisting or any other extreme sexual activities.

Possibly the most misleading information about fisting is that, of course, your vagina will be stretched out after fisting, and you will have a windsock between your legs for the rest of your life, LOL. The vagina is a muscle, so it will not stretch out as long you do it right and take it slow.

It can be exciting to try new positions or sexual acts out, but there will always be risks involved with anything new you try out. So it is always important to read or research as much as you can. Depending on your kink community, there might even be classes available where you can learn more and possibly ask questions to alleviate your nerves.

Even though there are extreme videos of women being fisted, as with all porn, you can’t always believe what you are watching. Fisting takes time and patience from both partners, and you don’t just stick your fist up a vagina; there is an extended warm-up process.

So when you have decided that this is something you want to try with your partner, discuss it and agree on your limits and, of course, safewords. I don’t believe that fisting should be done for the first time in a scene, it is something very intimate, and there shouldn’t be any time constraints or set end goals initially.  Just go with the flow and see how far you can go with your partner.

Some basic fisting know-how is essential; below, I have added a few precautionary steps to follow.

  • No jewelry – Remove all jewelry beforehand. You don’t want to hurt your partner or create lacerations or tears inside them.
  • Trim your nails – Similar to jewelry, long nails or nails with sharp edges can scratch, cut or hurt your partner internally.
  • Inspect your hands – Your hands shouldn’t have any scratches, cuts, or abrasions, and if they do, wait a few days until they are completely healed. You don’t know what pathogens you or your partner have, and you sure as hell don’t want to infect your partner or even vice versa.
  • Lube is your BFF – Buy lude and then buy some more; lube is your best friend when it comes to fisting; you can never have too much, make sure it is water-based as it will be used for fisting, and don’t buy the numbing type. You want to feel everything; you want to know if something feels off or an angle needs to change; numbing lube will prevent this.
  • Gloves – You get particular types of fisting gloves, or you can use latex gloves; it is entirely up to you if you want to wear gloves, some people swear by it, and others think it is pointless.
  • Hygiene – Always wash your hands before fisting; you really don’t want to give your partner an infection when they are letting you stick your fist in them.

You and your partner need to take it slow, one finger at a time slow. Most people say it can take up to an hour to get a fist in their partner. This should not be rushed; make sure the partner that is being fisted is comfortable and pay attention to how they feel and if they are experiencing any discomfort. If they are, you might need to change your angle or adjust your hand. Hand cramps are also associated with fisting.

Fisting can be a great bonding experience for both partners but extremely intense with unusual sensations for the partner being fisted.
