My true love of cars,

My true love of cars,

I have always had a love for fast cars with stunning body lines. Last year it was time to upgrade my Mazda 3 hatchback 2.0lt Astina, this Mazda was quick and comfortable, it was just the right fit at that time. I initially thought I would upgrade to the new Mazda 3 hatchback. I discussed this with my father, and he convinced me to have a look at other brands and make sure that there was not something else that might catch my eye.

I started looking at different brands and narrowed it done to Alfa Romeo and Renault. The reason I choose these two brands was fundamental. I want my car to stand out a bit. Not too look like the rest of the herds on the freeways. I am different, and I want the same with the cars I drive. My dad taught me that when you buy a car, you determine your price range and find a brand that falls into that price range. You then buy the top of the range.

So finally, I decided on Renault as the brand, I always liked the Megane, and when I saw the new Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup I knew this was the perfect car, it ticked all the boxes. It has stunning lines and just looked mean. I choose to go for the Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup in Tonic Orange, as you can see it is a gorgeous colour. The colour is mesmerizing and changes ever so slightly in different lighting. I would absolutely stand out from the herd now.

My new Renault Megane R.S. 280 Cup car or as I fondly refer to him as “Norris” is a mean machine, hence the name.

I started researching the car and knew instantly, LOL, I bought the car within a week of deciding to trade in my Mazda 3, but that alone was a feat of its own. I went to a Renault dealership the Saturday morning, told the salesman what I want along with the colour. He was your typical salesman agreeing to everything and promising to call me shortly, by the Tuesday I still have not heard anything, after several attempts to get hold of him.

I decide to hell with that, that same Tuesday afternoon went to another Renault dealership, found a saleswoman and told her what I wanted. She offered me a cup of coffee while she took down all my details. I picked up Norris that next afternoon. Best of all, I had just bought a car that I had not even test-driven!

Once I drove off the showroom floor, the power of the car scared me for a hot minute, all the reviews I had read had not prepared me for this type of power. I was blown away and instantly loved my new car.

To this day, it is the best purchase I have ever made. I have taken on some fast cars and kicked their asses, but those are tales for another day. Every day people are shocked when they realise, I own this sport car. It is not my partners car that I am quickly using to pop into the shops or lent for the day. This is my sports car that I own, that I drive and that I know how to drive.

I never realised when I bought Norris that my life would change, don’t get me wrong the car is perfect but my ultimate decision to purchase something outside the “norm” and explore another side of myself is what changed my life.

The point I am trying making is that you do not have to stick to the “norm”, there is no cookie-cutter mould for all of us. You are unique, and your choices are yours, you do not have to conform to what is considered acceptable.

Decide on what it is you want. Do your research and get as much information as possible, so that you can decide from there. Is this the next step in my life? Once you have decided to take this new path, you can change your mind at any time, but you will only be disappointing yourself by not being true to yourself. Own who you are and own your decisions and mistakes. This is something that I had to learn on my own, and it took me a long time to realise that, had I not made these decisions, had I not made these mistakes I would not be who I am today. I am unapologetically me.
