Human trafficking affects everyone,

Human trafficking affects everyone

Human trafficking affects everyone,

Human trafficking affects everyone; your race, sex, and age does not matter to human traffickers. They will find a way to use you and traffic you regardless.

I have written a few blogs about human trafficking and sexual exploitation; everyone is at risk. Minors are usually targeted online and coerced into meeting up with their would-be sex traffickers. Many young girls and women are targeted, but so many young boys and men also get trafficked all around the world.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has not helped in the fight against human trafficking, and I do, however, believe that people are becoming more aware of human trafficking and how deep it runs in our communities and towns because human trafficking affects everyone.

There is a new shelter opening in North Texas for young men that human traffickers sexually exploited. This will be the first shelter of its kind for young men who are victims of human trafficking; Bob’s House of Hope opens on June 1st this year and will house six to eight men between the ages of 18 and 24. They will be opening a second house for young boys between the ages of 13 and 17 next year.

These young men will receive counseling,  medical and dental care along with vocational training and mentorship. The founders of Bob’s House of Hope also run Ranch Hands Rescue that helps children who have been abused or experienced trauma during their childhood; these children are paired with rescued animals so that they can help each other heal. I love this, I believe the love of an animal is unique and healing, and this is such a fantastic idea.

The young men that will live at Bob’s House of Hope will also be part of this problem, helping them heal while looking after these animals; it will give them a sense of purpose and help them remember that not everything in this world is evil.

I have noticed that more people realize that human trafficking is all around them, these victims might not always seem like human trafficking victims, but a majority of them are. Those young women standing at busy intersections at night are more than likely being sexually exploited, forced into prostitution to “pay” off their debts owed to the traffickers. There are so many ways to exploit and traffic people that you often overlook what is right in front of you.

Our world is a lonely place, every bit we can do to make this world just a little better could change someone’s life. Sometimes all it takes is to ask them if they are okay and have a safe place to go as human trafficking affects everyone.

We should all be better people, kindness costs nothing in this world.
