Electrosex, it is time to shock your partner

Often if you think of Electrosex, you think of those dodgy BDSM porn videos where a woman is tied down and seems like she is being electrocuted while screaming her ass off; now, this isn’t really my idea of a fun night at home.

Electrosex is, however, is not as hardcore as these porn videos make them out to be. You have various settings you can choose from depending on how much of a “shock” you want to feel. Even though it is technically a shock, it doesn’t actually feel like you are being shocked.

What is electrosex? Also known as erotic electrostimulation. It’s the electrical stimulation of the nerves, often used in erogenous areas for sexual stimulation.

There are several different types of electrosex devices, and today I will focus on wands.

There are two popular wands used for electrosex, and it is important to understand that the wands are only used outside of the body and should not be inserted into a partner. Electrosex wands form part of sensation play, so you use in over your partner’s body like feathers or ice cubes.

The two wands used for electro play are the violet wand and the neon wand. These wands have a handheld base with an electrical outlet, and they often come with several attachments, which usually consist of glass electrodes. When the wand is on, the attachment will glow, and if you hold it close to your hand or your partner’s body, an arc of electricity will touch your hand or their body.

When you use the wand on a low setting, it will feel like a tickle, or it might just feel warm in that spot. The sensations will differ as you increase the intensity as we all experience sensations differently. First, I would advise you to try the wand out on yourself and your partner before bringing it into a play session.  This way, you will know what sensation your partner will enjoy, and you will also understand what the sensation feels like when you are using it.

Some people feel that the electrosex wands are not as powerful as they would like them to be; there are several ways to increase the intensity. If you own the Neon wand, you can buy a Power Tripper attachment, it is connected to the handheld base, and your partner can either hold the other end or slip in between their skin and a piece of clothing like a waistband. The Power Tripper will then turn your partner into an electrode; therefore, their whole body will experience the electrosex sensations. You can include metal toys and objects during your play, like a Wartenberg pinwheel or stainless steel dildo, and these toys will add to your sensation play as they all conduct differently.

Before engaging in electrosex, make sure your partner doesn’t have a pacemaker, insulin pump, or any electrical implant. You cant engage in electrosex if they have any electrical implants. You will also need to ensure that they have no heart abnormalities or arrhythmias when engaging in electrosex. Always agree on a safeword before play and pay attention to your partner and their body in case they are in distress.
