Narcissistic Women and how to spot them

Narcissistic women actually exist; usually, if you think or talk about narcissists, you think of the narcissistic men you have met over the years; we seldom associate women with narcissistic traits but believe me, there are many out there in the world.

It is thought that at least 1 % of the general population are narcissists; the DMS-5 classifies narcissism as a personality disorder. The University of Cambridge found that people with a narcissistic personality disorder have a problem with the brain’s right anterior insula cortex. This part of the brain is responsible for empathy.

Narcissistic women distort reality; they are never in the wrong; they are perfect. Portrayed in such a manner that their actions are always justifiable, she was just defending herself. They are arrogant and entitled and feel the world should worship them. They won’t respect your boundaries or feelings and will lash out at you if you don’t stoke her ego and self-esteem.

Narcissistic women and how to spot them, below are some common traits:

  • She badmouths everyone, regardless of her relationship with them. There are no exceptions.
  • She thinks she is the most attractive woman in the world, and she will go to any extent to increase her “attractiveness”; she is very superficial.
  • She creates chaos around her; there will always be drama and problematic situations. She will turn your life upside down.
  • She is vain, obnoxious and the world only revolves around her. The only time she will fake any interest in you is if she needs or wants something.
  • They have had many failed relationships and friends, and it is always the other persons’ fault; a narcissist will never take responsibility for failure.

If you know a narcissist, it is better to set up boundaries early on and not get pulled into their web; there will be countless attempts on their end to drag you into their drama and chaos. Stop focusing on them and speak up for yourself. They will take no responsibility for their actions or hurting you; make sure that they don’t affect your mental health with their backlash and accusations. A narcissist will always have an exhausting effect on you, so make sure to spend only a limited amount of time with them.

Even though narcissism is a mental disorder, they will never be able to change their behavior, and it will impact your life drastically. Ensure you have a support system in place if you are more closely involved with a narcissist. It will always help to have a friend give you the affirmation you need when the drama unfolds.
