Submissive role

In every relationship, there is a Dominant and a submissive role, regardless if it is a vanilla relationship, BDSM or kink related, or purely a sexual arrangement. You can break it down however you want, but the Dominant partner always steers the relationship. When looking for a relationship, you will seek either a dominant or submissive partner.

A concept of dualism is how seemingly opposite or contrary personalities may be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent to each other and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate.

These are the foundations to building a mutually beneficial BDSM relationship, understanding your role in the relationship, and playing your part. This is also vital in establishing connections or relationships.

The submissive role comes in all shapes and forms; popular submissive terms are listed below,

  • Submissive – Also referred to as a sub, a sub consensually gives up control to a Dom/me in D/s dynamic.
  • Slave – A sub who gives their Dom/me complete control over them; a slave is often regarded as the property of their Master/Mistress.
  • Bottom – A person who plays the submissive role during a BDSM scene, their submission may vary depending on their dynamic.
  • Masochist – A person who enjoys pain and derivers sexual gratification from it, whether emotional, mental, or physical.
  • Toy – A person that is played with and treated like a toy.
  • Rope Bunny or Rope Bottom – A person who enjoys being bound and suspended by a rope.
  • Primal Prey – A person who enjoys being hunted by a primal predator.
  • Middle – A person who identifies with or exhibits a younger mindset and behaviors from a young age portrayal to a teenager, typically between 7 and 11.
  • Little – A person who identifies with or exhibits a younger mindset and behaviors of a younger age.
  • Babyboy / Babygirl – A person who seeks a parental or nurturing figure in a relationship, with some identifying as or roleplaying as a young boy/girl. Also used as a term of endearment for a submissive.
  • Pet / Kitten / Pup – A person who enjoys roleplaying as a pet in a submissive role.
  • Furry – A person who enjoys roleplaying in the anthropomorphism spectrum.

Once you become part of the BDSM community, you will realize how open and honest people can be, about who they are, which is exceedingly rare in our world where everyone puts up a facade.

I have come across many people who are shocked by the mere discussion of BDSM; it is thought of as a taboo subject and should not be discussed. I, however, find it to be an embracing community regardless of who you are or what your kink is, and everyone is welcome as long as everything is consensual.
