I struggle to find the good in the world

I struggle to find the good in the world, and it seems that our world is becoming a horrible place, or maybe it always has been this way.

With social media, everyone has a voice. I use to love this, and you could interact with anyone around the world instantly. I thought this would create so many different channels for people to discuss real-world topics and help them be part of the change that our world needs. However, social media seems to be at the forefront of all the hate in the world.

I am a woman, I am a curvaceous woman, and I had to learn to live in a “man’s” world. I have worked in a male-dominated industry, and I have seen the difference between men and women; the pay, the promotions, and many more injustices. I understand this. I have lived and worked with these differences for most of my life, but I worked and proved myself and my worth.

I know women have a place in this world, and it’s not pregnant barefoot behind a stove. However, you need to earn your place as a woman. You do not just demand it because you were seen as the “weaker” sex for so many years. Yes, it was a man’s world; however, they did work for those positions and those achievements.

I have seen alarming tweets and Facebook posts lately; there is even a “kill all men” hashtag that is gaining momentum. WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with some of the women? Not all men are bad, and you can not blame all men for what some men have done. Have they completely lost their minds?

So much for an all inclusive world, I have seen more men stand up for women than ever before. Many men stand up against the old ways of the world; this needs to be applauded. Not have stupid hashtags trending saying “kill all men.” These are your sons, brothers, and fathers; femicide is the intentional killing of girls and women just because they are female. Are we, as women, not going to learn anything? This is not the good in the world I was looking for.

Are we going to make the same bad choices as those that we stood up against?

I struggle to find the good in the world when hashtags and posts trend that make this world worse than what it already is. Have we not learned anything from history?

Do better, be better.
